Ankle Sprain Prolonged Swelling I Sprained My Ankle Long Ago But It's Been Acting Up, Swelling Up As Of Late. What Should I Do?

I sprained my ankle long ago but it's been acting up, swelling up as of late. What should I do? - ankle sprain prolonged swelling

I have a sprained ankle for about 6-7 years. It hurts now and then every 6 months, the supposedly normal. In recent years, the ankle is swollen, again. It was exacerbated by prolonged use. Do you have any suggestions to relieve swelling?

  1. Go to a licensed massage therapist who specializes in such injuries. Usually a sports massage therapist specializing in this field. Check to chiropractors and health clubs.

In massage school, said one of my professors all the time working with ankle injuries, and how much of a difference, even years after the injury. The scar tissue develops and causes problems, massage can break the scar tissue and help tissue to be healthy again. That's not funny, but it works.

  2. Go to a doctor or physiotherapist. Since you have to twist my ankle, is now weaker and more prone to twisting / back hurt. Try to (the other is a pad stack), and put ice or a cold to him, and the rest. Sometimes it helps to reduce swelling ibuprofen, but it is advised by a doctor.

  3. Frankly, I can not believe people recommended Rice for a sprained ankle, which occurred before 6-7 years. It's pretty incredible. All the studies show, ice is only effective for about 36-72 hours after a sprain. Why would anyone suggest ice after 6-7 years.

The problem is that the ankle is very weak and has never been stronger or raised to a point that can completely heal. You need to do is to start exercises of the ankle back to full capacity. They also do some stretching exercises and get movement back into the ankle.

The best system I've seen is, HEM provides exercises and other ideas for sprained ankle sprains are really amazing healing work for years after an ankle, how it works, again for strength and mobility in the ankle. It worked incredibly well for me.

  5. Rice is the key
    R-Rest
    I-ice
C-Compression ..... wrapped in an ACE wrap or buy an ankle brace for support and the swelling
E-sky over your heart, reduce swelling, too. which is ready for treatment at home. You may want to consult a doctor if it continues to worry Tho .... good luck hope this helps

  6. Damage caused by a "weak link", even after several years. Ask your doctor to rule out tendon or ligament injury, then ask a query of physical therapy for some strengthening exercises. Use (rice with germs - rest, ice, compression, exercise, but as poor housing thorough a disruption of blood flow can cause it's always good to have a professional technical WTH Consult)

  7. Do you know the ankle and will remain the same? They may not be too good. Ask your doctor or nurse about it though.
